History harbour tugs Midlum / Ochtum
The tugboats Midlum and Ochtum were built for the German tugboat company URAG (Unterweser Reederei GmbH). The Midlum was named after a village near Bremen, the Ochtum was named after a river in the same area The ships sailed for a long time in the ports of Bremen and Bremerhaven, until the ships were sold to Multraship from Terneuzen (The Netherlands) in 1985.
The Ochtum was delivered to Urug on 17 August 1957 by shipyard Elsflether Werft AG. Sister ship Midlum was delivered on 6 April 1959 by the same shipyard. The tugboats were sold by URAG in August 1985. In the Netherlands, the tugboats were part of the Multraship fleet for a long time.
The 1:1250 scale model of the Midlum / Ochtum is 1.97 cm long and 0.49 cm wide. Despite the small dimensions in scale 1:1250, the model of the URAG tugboats has a lot of details. We do also have a version in the Multraship colors.
