HIstory harbour tugs Leendert Muller & Multratug 4
The tugs Leendert Muller and Multratug 4 were built in 1957 for shipping company URAG (Unterweser Reederei GmbH) based in Bremen. The ships sailed in Germany under the names Ochtum and Midlum, the sisters were sold in the mid 80s and became part of the Dutch Multraship tugboat fleet. Until the 2000s, the ships sailed on the Westerschelde, until they were replaced by larger and stronger tugboats.
In 2001 the Multratug 4 was the first to be taken out of service. The tug was sold to a foundation that used the tugboat to get young criminals back on the right path. The ship was demolished in 2008. Sister ship Leendert Muller lasted her service with Multraship until 2011. The Leendert Muller tugboat was demolished in 2011 at the Galloo demolition yard in Ghent, Belgium.
The 1:1250 scale model of the Leendert Muller / Multratug 4 is 1.97 cm long and 0.49 cm wide. Despite the small dimensions in scale 1:1250, the scale model of these tugs has a lot of details. We also have a version in the original German URAG (Unterweser Reederei GmbH) colors.
